Article Writing Is A Powerful Way to Build Links Naturally

Article writing is once again gaining popularity as a way to build natural one way inbound links to your business web site. By writing well thought out articles with good relevant content will help build links naturally as well as increase web traffic to your web site.

Article writing is one of the most popular ways of building a list of readers. Readers will look forward to your next writing because they enjoy your fresh ideas as well as your low key approach to providing quality information. Sharing relevant, up to date information is an excellent way to build a targeted list of readers for future promotions. The old saying “the secret to online success is your contact list” has never been more applicable.

In today’s article we’re going to share some basic guidelines that should help you in your article marketing endeavors.

There are numerous ways of creating articles that will appeal to the general public, as well as the search engines for indexing. One of the best methods is to write your own content rather than outsource to writers who know nothing about your business, products or services.

Depending on your budget there are some excellent ghost writers that are available online, but it can end up being rather expensive, especially if you’re on a limited budget. No one can write about your product or services like you, simply because you know more about your product or service better than anyone else. Sure it takes time to research, write and publish your writings; however, the rewards can be extremely profitable.

Writing an article that is link worthy is important to your online success. Don’t get to technical in your writings. An excellent way to write acceptable copy is to keep your information simple, informative with a bit of humor where permitted. Don’t overdo it on the humor.

Write from the heart. Don’t try to make your readers think you’re something that you’re not. God’s given most readers a sixth sense for determining whether you’re knowledgeable, sincere and reputable, or just another smooth talking salesperson.

Keep in mind that your main objective in writing is to attract targeted traffic to your web site. Providing factual and truthful information is a giant step on earning the respect of your readers.

Before beginning the process of actually writing, it’s a good idea to put together some form of an outline with specific points you want to cover in your writing. Your writings must flow without all the normal BS you’ll find in a lot of so-called marketing guru’s.

If you have a tendency of being too technical in your writings, tone it down a bit. The old saying of “keep it simple stupid” applies when you’re writing acceptable content with your normal reading audience. Keep in mind you need to keep Google, Yahoo and Bing happy as well.

If you find yourself using technical phrases that are not usually used in your writings, it’s a good idea to explain what the technical phrases actually means in layman’s terms.

Writing content with long paragraphs is a turn off to many readers. Keep your paragraphs short and to the point and your readers will appreciate you thoughtfulness. Keeping your paragraphs to two or three sentences has been a magic number that I’ve found is acceptable. Anything more than that, your readers may get lost in a vast sea of words.

Keep your comments about your product or service to a minimum without a lot of hype. The biggest mistake most writers make is to try to sell a product within the content area of their writings. Save your closing remarks for the last paragraph of your article.

Any links you want to promote, place them in the author resource area. Try to keep the bio area to less than 300 characters. Any more characters than that will not be accepted by many of the article directories you may want to post in.

One point to remember is that your readers must determine from your writings that you are indeed an expert in the subject matter you’re sharing. If you’ve had a real life experience that will help substantiate what you’re talking about, then by all means share that information with your readers. There’s nothing like a good personal testimonial to get your point across.

As in any sales situation, your explanation of how your product or service will benefit your reader is more important than the features of your product or service. Use your imagination on how to approach this critical issue.

Providing reference sources you used to obtain information can appear at the end of your article. This will make your readers more comfortable when it comes time to make a decision of whether to buy your product or service; or to go elsewhere to make their purchases.

Try to write as if you’re answering a specific question. Imagine yourself setting across the kitchen table from your reader conducting a one on one personal interview.

If you need help in determining whether your writings are understandable to your readers, ask for the honest opinion of your spouse, friend or acquaintance, asking them to give you an honest appraisal of how your article flows. Ask them if they totally understand what you’re trying to say. Be prepared to accept any and all comments and criticism as constructive. This will help you in future writings.

Writing good relevant content comes with experience, and the more you write the better your writings will develop into masterpieces. If you want to learn to write, then start writing now. You learn to write by writing and writing often.
