Keyword Strategies Create Search Engine Page Rankings

If you do a Google search on the term "Keywords" you're going to find something over 600 thousand different sites you could review, read and research on the subject. Let's face it; no one is going to live long enough to cover or understand all that information. So what's an individual to do? The answer is simple: Seek the help of the professionals would be the most sensible thing to do.

We've all heard how important keywords and keyword phrases are when you're trying to market your products or service online. Every marketing specialist, consultant and marketer has a different opinion of what's important to know about keywords when you're trying to obtain good page rankings with the search engines. Implementing and using proven methods of marketing of course is the best advice to follow.

Understanding some basics of how keywords and keyword phrases play a role in the effectiveness of your site is important to understand. You're may have to do some experimentation to see what really works for you and your marketing strategies. There are several factors that may change your overall approach on how you market your online business opportunity.

Let's discuss for a moment a brief description on how the search engines establish a page rank for each individual site online. Search engine like Google, Yahoo and Bing are the three major search engines that will spider your web site with their robots often called spiders. This is an automated process that will make a copy of each page on your website and store your information in their data bases for future reference.

The purpose of this process is to gather information and keywords that a user may type in the search bar when a user does a search for a specific keyword or phrase. The search engines can then go into their index and see which sites most closely matches the information the user is looking for.

The list of results displayed by the search engines will be in order of relevancy to the query and will be listed with the most relevant results first. Most users won't look any further than page one or maybe page two of the search engines in their search for information, so it's imperative that your site have a reasonable page ranking for any of your keywords.

An optimized site with keywords and phrases properly used in the site will of course draw a more focused targeted traffic than just throwing some content in your site that you may have used as a filler of non-relevant information.

Content relevancy with the search engines is crucial if you want to be effective in your marketing efforts. Ex: If your promoting candy kisses you will want to make sure most of your content is relevant to candy kisses and not candy in general.

The more laser focused you can stay with the keywords and phrases the more you will see good page rankings, increased traffic and the opportunity of closing sales. With marketing you can't use the shotgun approach, you must be keyword specific and laser focused in your niche market to see the maximum results for your marketing efforts.

Different search engines have different algorithms when calculating where your web site will rank in page ranking. These algorithms and guidelines are different with each search engine and will change on a regular basis and if you don't stay on top of these changes you can get lost in the internet masses rather quickly.

It's important you make sure that you use the same keywords in your Meta tag description that appear in the content area of your web site. Don't overdo the Meta tag description in any attempt to try to fool the search engines with the same words and keywords over and over. You want to avoid keyword stuffing at all cost. In your Meta description many of the search engines recommend that you use no more than about 160 characters in your Meta description. This may require that you write and re-write your Meta description several times before you get the exact wording explaining what your site is all about.

Keywords are by no means the only concern you must have when attempting to build your web site with good content or when writing good copy for articles, blogs or forums. Other concerns may include linking, back linking, anchor tags and so much more. If you're confused or don't understand these strategies, then seek the help of a professional who will be glad to help you in your marketing challenges.

Today we're not going to talk about all the other things necessary to build an effective and powerful web site. Our focus today is to stress the importance of keywords and phrases in the overall scope of marketing so you can develop and maintain a good page ranking with the search engines.

Always keep in mind that you must keep your site optimized with the right keywords and keyword phrases, keep a good balance of keyword occurrences as well as the right amount of keyword that appear in the content of your site which should be somewhere between 5-7% of relevant keywords to total content word count. In a thousand word article you could have somewhere around 50-70 keywords that you could use in your content area. Make sure those keywords are scattered naturally throughout your information. Keyword distribution is a very important part of the algorithm of every search engine.

There are numerous other areas of keyword strategies that you may want to learn as well. If you understand the variables in this process, you can tweak and optimize your site a little at a time and build a solid, laser focused, keyword rich, relevant content site that will stand head and shoulders above your competition. This may be the "hook" that you need to gain the unfair advantage many pro's are talking about in the marketing today.

By following these suggestions, your site will become popular with the search engines as well as the online users and will begin to draw traffic to your site like a giant magnet. Once this process starts to happen you will see sales start to happen too. Being prepared, working your plan, following the process and hard work will be rewarded for a successful profitable outcome in your marketing efforts.
