Content-Relevancy-Popularity Affects Page Ranking

In some of our recent writings we've talked a lot about link popularity and how linking is one of the main ranking factors the search engines uses for (SEO) search engine optimization and (PR) page rankings purposes. In today's article we want to talk a bit more about what link popularity is all about and how by making some minor changes in your marketing strategies and by using these changes you can generate a huge difference in your web sites popularity and page rankings.

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia explains Linking with a very simple explanation.

Back links, also known as incoming links, inbound links, in links, and inward links, are incoming links to a website or web page. In basic link terminology, a back link is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node.

Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today, their significance lies in search engine optimization (SEO). The number of back links is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (for example, this is used by Google to determine the PageRank of a webpage)."

When the search engines sends a spider to your web site to index your site into their databases, the engines will store any links within the document and where those links came from and where those links point to. The more links pointing to your site will make a huge difference on how the search engines look at the popularity of your site. This is one of the key factors if not the main key factor that the search engines use to determine page rankings.

With the search engines there are different segments of optimization that relates directly to the position of where the search engines will place your web site in their ranking hierarchy. As a direct result of high page rankings your site may appear among the very top listings with the search engines which in turn will generate more targeted traffic to your site generating more sales and more profits into your bank account. That's what internet marketing is all about!

All links are not the same in the eyes of the search engines. Too many marketers are trying to take shortcuts when it comes to good quality linking. If you're truly serious about marketing you need to understand early on in your marketing venture that there are no shortcuts when it comes to building good quality links.

It's vitally important to understand that the engines frown on link farms as your lead source. Sure the link farms can provide you with a ton of links, however, if those links are not relevant to what your site is all about then the engines consider those links as irrelevant and you will be penalized for spamming if you include such links in your site. The sole purpose of a link farm to provide you with links, however, unless those links are recognized by the search engines as relevant links to your site, those links are absolutely worthless. The engines will consider using the link farm links as spamming and will remove your site from their index.

The Search Engines uses more than one factor in their determination of the value of a web site. There are three main elements that the engines consider for establishing page rankings.

1) Content: We've all heard that "Content is King" with the search engines. The more good quality relevant keyword rich information you can provide in your site, the more credence the engines will give to your site in their ranking placement.

2) Relevancy: Relevant content is vital to your ranking position. The search engines will be even more pleased if your site information flows together and is updated frequently with more relevant information. Adding articles that are relevant and pointing to your site will build your linking and popularity quickly with the search engines with a solid optimized base that can last forever.

3) Popularity: The popularity of your website is another element that's considered by the search engines as a marker for higher page rankings with the engines. The popularity of your site with other sites linking to your web site is considered as another major marker for the engines to consider in their algorithm system for establishing page ranking.

Since content and relevancy depends on how hard you work and what kind of content you write, these elements are totally within your control, where popularity is up to someone else and will be the hardest to accomplish. If done correctly these three elements can and will work together in unison with the search engines and give you the page rankings you're striving for and so rightly deserve.

It's the general consensus by most SEO professionals that link popularity is now one of the most important factors within the algorithms of the engines for ranking purposes. The search engines not only looks for link popularity but relevancy in your web site content and is as important as the content of those sites linking back to your site and it has been determined to be equally important for good page rankings. If you're not familiar with this process, then by all means secure the services of an SEO Consultant and get the quality help immediately.

Recent studies show that content popularity is fast becoming as important as link popularity with the search engines. The more your content appears on the internet, the more weight and value the engines give your site by rewarding you with higher page rankings.

The secret here is to get your site and articles published as much as possible. Posting to multiple Article Directories has been proven to be an affordable, effective and powerful way to make this whole process happen. The Search Engines will pick up on your content popularity pretty quick and this will give you a higher page ranking when any user types in a search query which includes some of your keywords in that search.

Article Directories will allow more users to download your content and possibly link back to you more often. When this happens your site just earned an incredible amount of popularity with the search engines as well. This can really add some super value to the site the link came from, as well as the document on the site the link is pointing to. Sounds like to me that you're getting double value for the time and efforts you're expending by following these simple marketing tips.
