Writing Good Content in a Volatile Business Environment
Learning to write effectively will help you to blast your business opportunity to internet popularity that you never thought imaginable. Promoting any business online is an art and science that requires the use of many different marketing tools, strategies and a lot of hard work that must be tried, tested and implemented into the overall marketing process.
In our writings we've stated many times that the internet is all about providing information about our products or services. The information must be factual, relative and understandable even for a novice. This is not to say that technical information don't have a place on the internet, however, only a limited few of internet users have the ability to possibly understand all that techie talk.
When looking for information online the normal process that most users follow is to "Google It." This is a term that is universally recognized when looking for something on the internet. You can search other search engines and get a bit different result when you're doing your research so don't just settle for the results from just one search engine. The algorithms are different on Google vs. Yahoo or Bing so your results are going to be somewhat different from search engine to engine.
Much of the information we find regarding any type of search comes from writers that have done intensive study, research and testing on their theory of the subject matter. The consolidation of information you'll find in these published articles can save you an incredible amount of time and effort in your overall research for information about the subject you're searching for. We've said it before and it's worth saying it again "The Internet is all about information."
When you write, the more factual your information is, the more credibility you'll establish with your readers who have learned to trust your ideas, opinions and recommendation. Keep your information in simple format so anyone can follow your information even though they may be a novice. Don't over complicate the whole process of writing.
I think if we all keep the 5 w's in mind that we learned in high school will simplify the writing process considerably. Remember the ... who, what, when, where and why that the teacher pounded into our head on every essay we had to write? Maybe things changed after I graduated from high school and college back in the old days. As we pointed out in our article yesterday, write from the heart, keep your information to the point and always be sure your writings are honest and verifiable. It only takes one questionable post to destroy months or years of credibility you've worked so hard for.
Anyone who wants to write can write if they know the basics of writing using the 5 w's theory. A couple of years ago I was privileged to attend some writing classes taught by world renowned author Dr. Gwen who has a reputation of her no nonsense but factual approach to writing. In her classes she put a great deal of emphases on learning the basics of writing and then adding your own personality to the mix. She also stated that the one key ingredient to successful writing it to "start writing." Write from the heart with no BS … just the facts as you understand them.
If you understand and follow her simple formula for writing your personality will immediately show through and your readers will feel the sincerity of your thoughts and opinions. The more you write the better you will become at writing and conveying your thought process to your readers. Soon you will find that your opinions do count not only to you but your reading audience as well.
Butch Hamilton the SEO Master himself taught me that if you must commit to writing often if you want to become a recognized force on the internet. This commitment will never change regardless of how long you market online. You must always be adding new content to your site, writing and posting to blogs, forums, writing e-mails plus writing information articles about your products or services. As you can see, writing good copy is vitally important if you want to succeed in today's business environment.
Remember to always hand index your writings to Google, Yahoo and Bing each time you submit new content to the internet regardless of the source. The more you write the better your writings will develop into effective reading material. Your readers will want to subscribe to your RSS feeds so they can follow your work closely. This is especially true if you write good relevant content that is down to earth without all the hype or bull that is so prevalent in many of today's internet gurus.
In Summary: Learn the art and science of writing effectively. Write from the heart exactly as you would if you were talking to another human being. Write good, relevant, factual content in every writing. Avoid at all cost any hype, questionable or unverifiable information at all times. Write as often as you can without burning out on your subject matter. Do your research from multiple resources and then write your own ideas and opinions on your subject.
